Please read and meditate on Acts 1:9-11 and Luke 24:50-53* Today, we recognize the Ascension of Christ. Around 40 days after His Resurrection, our Lord Jesus ascended into Heaven. Many of us don’t take the time to understand the significance of Jesus’s Ascension. Even though it was sad to see Jesus leave His disciples, there were several things that Jesus needed to accomplish by ascending to Heaven. 1.) Mediation : Jesus is our Great High Priest. The role of the high priest was to provide sacrifice to God and reconciliation to God on behalf of the people. This is what Jesus did through His Sacrifice and Ascension. He is seated on God’s right hand to intercede for His Church. See Romans 8:34. 2.) Kingship : Jesus’ Ascension into Heaven is a fulfillment of Psalm 110 . Seated at the right hand of The Father, Jesus has been exalted as The Eternal King of the universe. Seated on Heaven’s throne, Jesus is both King and Judge of all nations. 3.)
